Drip Line
Irrigation

Drip irrigation, also known as micro-irrigation or trickle irrigation, is a method of watering plants by applying water directly to the plant's root zone in small, precise amounts. This technique offers several benefits compared to traditional irrigation methods.

Our special drip line has built in self cleaning mechanisms. It is a self regulating, anti siphon device providing even distribution throughout the line. This allows us to vary the amount of water applied at different times of the year.

The drip line is installed on the surface and evenly spaced for optimised watering. This pipe can be covered using bark or mulch for aesthetic proposes.

The Benefits

Drip Line Irrigation by Watermatic

Water conservation

Drip irrigation is highly efficient in water usage. It delivers water directly to the plant's root zone, minimizing evaporation and reducing water loss due to wind or surface runoff. By providing water precisely where it is needed, drip irrigation can significantly reduce water waste and improve water use efficiency, making it a sustainable choice for irrigation.

Weed suppression / soil erosion control

Drip irrigation delivers water only to the plant's root zone, minimizing moisture availability in surrounding areas. This helps suppress weed growth, as many weed seeds require consistent moisture to germinate. Additionally, the controlled application of water reduces soil erosion by minimizing runoff and surface movement of soil particles.

Improved plant health and growth

Drip irrigation ensures that plants receive a consistent and adequate water supply. By delivering water directly to the root zone at a slow and steady pace, it prevents overwatering or under-watering, which can stress plants. This promotes healthier root development, reduces the risk of diseases associated with excessive moisture, and encourages optimal plant growth.

Enhanced nutrient management

Drip irrigation allows for precise control over the application of fertilizers and nutrients. The system can be designed to deliver fertilizers directly to the root zone, ensuring that plants receive the required nutrients without wastage. This targeted approach improves nutrient uptake by plants, minimizes leaching, and reduces the potential for groundwater contamination.
